About Tanners Historic Cafe

In 2019 the historic Tanners building in downtown Wartburg, Tennessee known as Tanners Store, was purchased by the Morgan County Tourism Alliance. MCTA spent two years refurbishing the building back to its original state. All of the original pharmaceutical cabinets remain within the building as well as the original bar, stools, booths, bakery case, cash register and soda fountain. The right side of the building (the original building) is now known as The Legacy Room, which is decorated with pictures of the original Tanner Family and some family heirlooms. The Legacy Room is also a popular spot for high school class reunions. On April 22, 2022, Tanners Historic Café opened its doors to the public. You can read more about that here. In 2020 the Tanner Building that houses Tanners Historic Cafe was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2023 the Tanner Building celebrated its 100th Anniversary.
